Dancers who lift has really changed the way that I view weight training. I never thought that I would be the person to lift weights especially because it was always discouraged growing up as well as in college. Lifting weights can help you do that as well as with control which is all contradictory to what they had told us growing up when they were telling us not to “bulk up like a man” we don’t wanna be “too strong” so it’s been great to have this group not just for weightlifting, training and other great programming Amber puts out—but also for the community.
I’ve taught a master class for DWL, gotten roomate/housing help, job recs, and so much more! I love the strength that DWL has brought me so far and I can’t wait to continue into this year 2022 with Amber and the rest of the DWL fam.
Dancers Who Lift has been an incredible help to me. I went from doing a bunch of random workouts to have something incredibly clear and focused to help me achieve my goals. Not only has my dancing improved immensely, but I am so much more confident now that I’m feeling strong.
Dancers Who Lift has given me so much the last couple of years, it allowed me to move from punishing my body with movement to celebrating it instead. My perspective on fitness and health has shifted and it is no surprise that I am entering the new year happier and healthier than ever before.
I found DWL during summer of 2020 in the middle of the pandemic, and since then it’s changed the way I view exercise and wellness. Going into 2021 with DWL I was so excited to learn more and get strong and lose a bunch of weight, but DWL has done so much for me! It has taught me about progress over perfection, how dedication is so much more meaningful than motivation, and how to love myself and my body at whatever stage I’m in. The coaches are so supportive and constantly checking in, and I know the DWL will always be there to cheer me on whenever I need their support! DWL has taught me more than just lifting weights (though I’ve learned a lot about that too), it’s taught me how to take care of myself and others!
DWL has really helped me stay on track with my goals and keep me focused. The community and you and the coaches have helped me realize consistency is key and it’s better to show up and do a little than to try to mentally show up 100% every day. It has done my mental health a lot of good.
It’s fabulous to have a program that I can actually feel impact my dancing. Since I had ankle surgery in August, the # hours I’ve been dancing have been greatly reduced as I ease back, and it’s been nice to feel like the workouts I’m doing are putting in more hours even though they are less impactful than dancing itself most of the time! Even before my surgery, I could feel the difference in my dancing, and I’m excited to keep getting stronger in every area as I get back to “normal” in my dancing life.

YES. Transitioning out of PT is a great time to train your body for durability. You don’t want to push it too far…but you also don’t want to eliminate all physical activity. A good balance of exercise, proper nutrition, and plenty of recovery is EXACTLY what The Embodied Artist Academy was intended for. You can absolutely join if you are transitioning out of PT.
Do you love your body and want better stability, athleticism, and confidence? If you said yes, then the answer is YES! Anyone who loves dance is welcome to join the program.
You can DM me or your DWL coach whenever you have a question! We also encourage sending videos whenever you want for us to review your form. Also make sure to check the weekly wrap up emails to communicate with your coaches about how you’re doing each week.
No worries! We teach you everything a newbie lifter needs to know. And if you already have some knowledge about lifting and the gym, that’s fine too. This program works for all skill levels.
